"We're familiar with Westerners turning to horoscopes to unravel destiny and personalities, even seeking annual fortune predictions. But have you ever delved into the intriguing Chinese belief called 風水 (Fēngshuǐ)?

Fēngshuǐ, translating to "wind-water" in English, revolves around the geomancy of a house or tomb, believed to sway the fortune of a family. It's all about optimizing the location and layout of your living space, considering factors like surroundings and their impact on your fortune.

This concept involves arranging your interior or house location strategically – a game-changer with ties to your prosperity. Today, let's explore three fascinating traditions deeply ingrained in Chinese culture, where belief in Fēngshuǐ runs strong."

In Chinese there is also a saying ‘’一命二運三風水’’(Yī mìng èr yùn sān fēngshuǐ).

That mean there are top three thing really matter to your success, firstly is destiny, secondly it is how lucky you are, the third is 風水 Fēngshuǐ

1. better air circulation and ensures a fresh breeze enters through the gate. If you have to navigate through a long hallway to reach the living room, make sure the lighting is bright enough to maintain a positive ambiance in your home.

2. If you're in the process of buying or considering renting a house, exercise caution if the property directly faces a single road. It's advisable to think twice before making such a purchase.

3. I recall a superstition my cousin once shared with me – the bed you sleep on should not directly face a mirror. The belief stems from the notion that people might feel uneasy seeing their own reflection, and mirrors are often considered a sort of 'middle medium' for certain intangible elements.

"You might be curious and ask me, 'Hey Tony, do you believe in 風水 (Fēngshuǐ)?' Well, in a way, I do. There's a proverb that goes, '寧可信其有, 不可信其無' – rather believe it exists than not believe it. Take, for instance, the suggestion to build a house geologically seated in the north and facing south. This isn't just about belief; it's a practical adjustment to our typical weather. Winters bring a cold front from the north, and this layout, with fewer open windows, effectively reduces the chilling winds entering our homes. When it comes to improving the geomancy of your house, you can refer to a few books or do some internet research. Yet, I also adhere to the saying, 'Actions speak louder than words.' If you're expecting good luck and success, believing in it might just bring you some luck. Now, if someone suggests making a small change to the living room layout, like moving the desk – why not? It doesn't cost anything, and at the very least, it boosts confidence. So, what do you think? Do you believe in 風水?"
